Scott Miller, CBS Sportsline, Baseball writer & HOF voter
Voted for both Sutter & Gossage, says both need
be in before the next group of relievers gets in. Scott,
"Granted, Mariano Rivera should be on track for the
Hall." Steiner: "And, a 1st ballot." Miller, "Exactly."
Steiner asks is it getting harder or easier to get in?
Miller: "IT WILL BE EASIER TO GET IN IN FUTURE.
MORE WRITERS/VOTERS ARE BEING HIRED &
ALLOWED TO VOTE. SOME MAY NOT CARE SO
MUCH ABOUT BASEBALL, BUT WERE TOLD TO
COVER IT BY THEIR BOSSES. "Scott loves the BBWAA,
always wanted to be in it, is very protective of it, &
actually is now getting hesitant having to critique it.
I believe he said the Assn. hasn't allowed internet
writers in, which Scott is. But, he is an honorary member,
and is allowed to vote (but not allowed to hold office).
He says, 'THEIR 1st JOB IS TO PROTECT NEWSPAPER
WRITERS." Knowing that more major newspapers aren't
allowing their writers to vote, they're propping up a
crumbling process.
