Jonny Gomes on XM with Dibs & Kevin

Talking about player physicals, Devil Rays' Jonny Gomes had a heart attack at age 23. On Christmas Eve, 2003, he thought he had indigestion, finally went to a doctor the next day, found out he'd been having a heart attack for 27 hours. He obviously still does a tremendous job & plays hard. (Dibs & Kevin mention Larry Lucchino said his team doesn't usually give physicals to players it obtains in trades). Jonny says the Rays have sold more tickets for the upcoming season than they did for the whole year in 2005. Lots of improvements to the stadium experience, including free parking & ability to bring one's own food. February 11 will be Jonny Gomes Day in Petaluma, California where he played little league. Proceeds will go to charity. Gomes finished 3rd in ROY voting.
