Jeff Blair, Toronto Globe & Mail on the Blue Jays on XM

All kinds of threads here resulting in an energized fan base. On the WBC, though Canada doesn't have many players, they're all very loyal & eager to play. Each has had to come up through Baseball Canada, not a large organization, but one that helped them a lot & earned their dedication. Jeff feels the owner, Rogers Communications, doesn't care much about baseball, just doesn't want to lose money. As it happens, the Toronto Raptors & Maple Leafs aren't doing well, which may help fan interest in the Jays. Acknowledging cost of recent signings, some feel Jays have to pay a little extra to account for families moving to a different country, but that JP Ricciardi has done much to mitigate that.
