That's not what Brian Cashman said, Kevin

Brian Cashman was interviewed in the 3pm hour with Dibble & Kennedy on XM on Wednesday. He was asked his opinion about Guillermo Mota's reported flunking his physical with the Indians. Brian said he had no idea about it, no information about it. Kindly, not to leave the XM lads with dead air, he went on that these situations can be very elaborate, and tend to be moreso every year. He told some of his past experiences with medical reports, citing an example several years ago of a player who broke his toe after having been offered in a trade. Fine.
  • But Kevin & Dibs had Orestes Destrade on later in the show, discussing a few subjects. On the Mota deal, Kevin says to Orestes, "Brian Cashman said 'who knows if the Red Sox even gave Mota a physical." To which Orestes responded, "Whoaaaa," or "Wowwww," as if that were quite a statement/insinuation, etc. Which it might have been had Cashman actually said that.
  • They re-played their interview with Brian Cashman afterwards, sometime before 6pm, & Brian made no such statement. He only said in general terms, "Who knows if teams give/gave physicals." He could've meant the Marlins, Red Sox or Indians. It never occurred to me that he meant the Red Sox. Would any half smart general manager say that about a particular team? Of course not.
Why would Kevin Kennedy attribute such a crazy statement to Brian Cashman? Especially when proof to the contrary is so close at hand?
