Note to ESPN: The Truth About You

I wouldn't keep mentioning this subject, but they just won't quit. The constant bias against Mariano Rivera. I get the point--you guys just don't like the Yankees. So, you rip their biggest star, their most immortal, because you feel so small yourself. Most of us know by now that the AL Cy Young voting is a fraud--they weren't going to vote for Mo because he was so successful. One of them actually came out and said that in a NY Times article. I WROTE HERE OF JAYSON STARK'S APPEARANCE ON CHARLEY STEINER'S SHOW ON XM EARLIER THIS WEEK, IN WHICH STARK TOOK DOWN MARIANO AS BEST HE COULD. HE ALSO TRIED TO SPOTLIGHT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CLOSER, WHOM HE SAID WAS OVERLOOKED--you know, the one on the west coast these ESPN guys hype all the time, who's nothing like Mariano. Now, I read another 2 puff pieces today by ESPN's Jayson Stark, and he DOES THE SAME THING AGAIN. THE AWARD IS OVER WITH. MARIANO LOST. NOW, STARK WANTS TO PUT ON PAPER JUST ENOUGH SO HE LOOKS LIKE HE KNOWS ABOUT MO. Says maybe there should be a new award called the Rollie Fingers Relief Award, and Mariano would be ONE OF those considered for it. Really? Gosh, that sounds really great. Then, Stark writes a whole new article for the purpose of putting forth ESPN's darling west coast closer, AND diminishing Mariano. He starts by referring to his west coast closer as "a future Hall of Famer." Why? (The guy isn't a future Hall of Famer). Maybe he heard Dibble & Kennedy's interview with Rollie Fingers this week, where a fuming Dibble asked Rollie if HE THOUGHT MARIANO RIVERA SHOULD GO TO THE HALL OF FAME. Rollie said YES, he thought so. No one brought up this west coast guy even though Rollie played for the same team...(oh, yes, I forgot, Dibble DID bring him up at the top of the show, about his "total saves" --do they ever include Mariano's post season saves in their "total saves" pr rant?---& Rollie dismissed Dibble's point---Rollie said that "total saves" wasn't an accurate barometer--easily a third of them didn't really count. And, as he said, Mariano got the games that counted). These ESPN guys are narcissistic, petty and biased. The same goes for whomever employs them. In case you guys haven't heard, the truth always gets out nowadays. Even about you.
