Andy Pettitte's record breaking Yankee strikeout pitch

7/1/13, "Andy Pettitte after throwing the pitch that struck out Justin Morneau in the fifth inning and also gave him the Yankees all-time strikeout record," moving past Whitey Ford with 1,958 K's (regular season). final 10-4 Yankees, star-tribune, jeff wheeler

Pettitte: "“To be mentioned with Whitey’s name is always an honor. It’s very cool. I’m very honored to be with this organization for so long, it’s very special. I’ve had a good relationship with Whitey through the years. He’s been awesome to me,’’ Pettitte said. “But this is bittersweet. He has not been doing that well and [at Old Timer’s Day] he did not know me and Stevie [Donohue]. I’ve talked pitching with him through the years, but this year it was kind of sad for him to not know who you are because of the dementia, it was sad. Everybody is getting old.’’"

7/2/13, "Robbie’s 2 HRs help Yankees end skid," NY Post, George A. King III
