Bernie Williams on local PBS radio show discussing recent book about links between music and athletics

The local NY City PBS radio station WNYC replayed an interview with Bernie Williams that first aired on 6/28/11, a few days after his first old timers day at Yankee Stadium. Bernie relayed a comment made to him by Bruce Springsteen at one of Joe Torre's charity fundraisers:
  • "You may be old for baseball, but you're a spring chicken in rock and roll."
From WNYC, the Leonard Lopate show: "Former New York Yankee Bernie Williams describes how his talent at playing baseball was directly influenced by his musical training and his deep understanding of the similarities between musical artistry and athletic performance. Rhythms of the Game: The Link Between Musical and Athletic Performance, written with Dave Gluck and Bob Thompson, includes a series of conversations, narratives, and sidebars to reveal the influence of music and its rhythms on the game of baseball." (About :20 intro, then show begins).
