Yankees to hold 911 ceremony Wed., Sept. 7 beginning at 12:40pm
"The Yankees will hold a special ceremony to honor the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 prior to Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, the team announced.
- The ceremony has to take place on Wednesday because the Yankees are on the road on Sept. 11.
- Petry will be throwing the ceremonial first pitch along with Yankees employee Hank Grazioso, who lost both of his sons in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
- Official FDNY Vocalist Regina Wilson, from Engine Company 219, will sing the national anthem and Official FDNY Vocalist Frank Pizarro, from Engine Company 76, will perform "God Bless America." The FDNY Honor Guard will present the colors."
