Dodger-Diamondback game used 16 pitchers-Madden

  • It's not Joe West's father's game.
Bill Madden: "Good thing Joe West wasn't umpiring the Dodgers-Diamondbacks series last week. Wednesday's 11-inning, 9-7, D-back win, one of the longest and most tedious games ever played. The two managers, Joe Torre and A.J. Hinch, used a total of 16 pitchers (the Dodger arms issued nine walks) in a desperate search for the one guy who didn't have it. As it turned out, none of them did. Then,
  • the next night with more imploding bullpens, the two teams went 10 innings,
Did somebody say pathetic?"
