Yankee atmospherics, Joel Sherman, NY Post

(Joel Sherman, NY Post): "His players want Girardi, among other items, to stop walking through the clubhouse
  • to stop closing his office door so frequently and to stop
  • In other words, they want him to show he cares about more than Xs and Os."
This is interesting. But Mr. Sherman makes a suggestion which would create more cancer than already exists in various New York professional clubhouses (one hears constantly that Mets and Yankees can't develop team comraderie due to suffocating media in their clubhouses). He suggests Joe Girardi meet with all 9 NY Yankee beat writers to discuss certain things. Instead, I suggest the following:
  • Many of those who have chosen the career of baseball beat writer should change careers. Unfortunately, it is no longer a good way to make a living for a host a reasons. One pool beat writer is plenty. In this case, I pick Joel Sherman for Yankee pool beat writer.
The job as currently constructed is geared to hoping the manager will say something he shouldn't. Obviously, anything that helps the competition comes under this category.
  • Since it is absurd to ask fans to pay for a team that is sabotaging itself, the obsessive questioning of players and team personnel must stop.
  • Lastly, no one outside any team and its employees should be allowed in clubhouses. Let them meet in designated areas in the building.
Now, all the media parasites can go back to their knitting and giggling amongst themselves about how easy it is to get over on the Yankees (Joel Sherman may or may not be in this group but I still pick him as pool beat writer).
