Tampa Tribune to face scorn and ridicule--dares to endorse McCain-Palin
How not to be in with the in-crowd (ie 'journalists'). The Tampa Tribune can't be doing it for money because both parties have squandered any wealth the country, including Florida, had. They say in part:
- (Tampa Tribune): "A few states could make the difference in this election. Florida is likely to be one, and Tampa Bay will be a key battleground. The McCain-Obama race is a choice that divides families, friendships
- and even editorial boards.
Obama's vision of hope shines like a rainbow, appealing but just out of reach. McCain's call to freedom and responsibility is less exciting, but you know it works.
- The Tribune encourages voters to vote what they believe, not what they wish were true. The nation needs a stable leader in these unpredictable times.
- For president, the Tribune endorses Sen. John McCain."
Not expressed by the Tampa Tribune, but my own rationale:
- The small sum not already stolen by billionaires is locked up in a nationalized banking system or promised to Communist China.
- Two things remain worthy of a vote, one big and one small. The small one is McCain has a slightly different view of the world than his opponent.
- The big one, his vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, is the country's only hope for a voice not totally compromised by decades of backroom deal making. That is the business of a politician--
- giving and getting favors.
- Nothing pretty about it. (sm)
