Joba has elbow problems, spends night in pen--Rieber

Joba ends up in Nebraska 'pen.' (Rieber, Newsday)
  • Not a surprise unless you're on board with the inebriation
  • of premature star-making--a baseball media pastime.
  • Despite unpleasant consequences, like the average drunk, they keep doing it.:
(Newsday, Rieber): Now the Yankees have to begin their important postseason worrying about Chamberlain's health. Not the health of his right shoulder, which caused the Yankees so much worry in 2007 that they instituted the infamous Joba Rules about how many pitches and innings he could throw, but rather the health of his elbow: A serious subject, as drunk drivers often kill other people. Chamberlain is also the father of a young child. As far as baseball goes, he's lucky his career didn't end last night.
  • Time will tell if he has the brains to be a winner or not. (sm)
