The Headless Horseman--no one is in charge of these Yankees

(NY Times, Kepner): "INSIDE PITCH

  • His on-base percentage has dropped to .295." ...
Cano's problems have long since been obvious, as I recall him grounding out on the first pitch at least once both yesterday and today. The bigger point is the absence of management. Someone, possibly Girardi, is allowing him to conduct his at bats in this fashion over a long period of time.
  • There is something very wrong in the management structure of the Yankees as they now present themselves. Girardi seems detached for whatever reason which I never would have imagined.
  • The problem will not change unless ownership changes. It's foolish to pay attention to the team at this point. It always starts from the top. (sm)
