ESPN still Yankees' Daddy--"Spycam"

Commenter SJ on Peter Abraham's Lohud Yankee Blog posted an item about an ESPN camera in the Yankee dugout. NYYFans.com then posted it yesterday afternoon as follows:
Quote:
"Last night, ESPN went into the Yankee dugout and shot Arod and Abreu, down along the steps leading to the tunnel, discussing Delcarmen tipping his pitches. Abreu was showing Arod what he was doing.
  • Instead of cutting away (they are not supposed to shoot that far into the dugout), they stayed with the shot.
Joe Morgan, like the moron he is, ratted out his own crew when he said, “I don’t think we (ESPN) should have shown that”. He then proceeded to tell Jon Miller what Abreu was doing with Arod.
  • If I was the Yankees today, I would be livid. ESPN not only overstepped its boundries, they completely disregarded the rules in doing so.
  • Make no mistake, they KNEW what they were doing.
You don’t see them shoot the Red Sox dugout in such a way. Not at home or on the road. Or any other team for that matter. Its because you are not allowed to do it.
  • They just decided on their own to break the rules last night.
The Yankees need to ban the field camera from shooting their dugout in the next ESPN game.
  • If they don’t, pull the credential.I will tell you, if a network crew did that on an NFL sideline (steal signals or shoot strategy sessions then show it), they would have their credentials pulled.
A real unprofessional move by ESPN last night. They should get nailed for it."
  • Another example that the Yankees are clueless when it comes to the media in general, especially ESPN. For instance, right now the local ESPN radio host in New York is loudly whining that Andy Pettitte is as bad as Barry Bonds, repeating it over and over. Even though the Mitchell report was a joke, never should've been released in a Grand Ballroom to global tv cameras, and never will be again, ESPN will never, never stop talking about it. A few months before the Mitchell Report came out, the Red Sox made an $18 million offer to Roger Clemens. If Clemens had signed with them, George Mitchell as an owner of the Red Sox would never have allowed the case to unfold as it did.
  • DOES ESPN RECALL THE GEORGE MITCHELL-OWNED RED SOX TRIED TO HIRE ANDY PETTITTE IN 2003, OFFERING HIM $52 MILLION OVER 4 YEARS (which he declined)? WHAT IF ANDY AND CLEMENS WERE BOTH ON THE RED SOX--AS THE RED SOX PLANNED?
  • George Mitchell as owner of the Red Sox would not have staged a spectacle in a Grand Ballroom with global tv cameras and taken down his own players. If certain names had to be on a list, that would be one thing, but selected names would NEVER have been slaughtered in this glittering manner. (sm)
