About Jose Guillen

George Mitchell, left, with fellow Red Sox owners, 12/01, AP photo His friend, Allan H. "Bud" Selig.
  • George Mitchell had absolutely nothing to do with the investigation yielding Guillen's name, credit card bills, social security number, substances ordered, places delivered to, etc.
There is much evidence about the Florida pharmacy customers whom Mitchell generously and fuzzily terms the "alleged internet" group. To this day, his partners in the media take the same distant approach to these clearest of offenders, eg: AP report:
  • Guillen was "suspended on Dec. 6 by commissioner Bud Selig following
  • to performance-enhancing drugs."
Following "media reports?" You've got the guys' social security numbers from the Albany DA and you give it the nebulous term "media reports?"
  • Why?
Reference, AP report, SportingNews.com, "Guillen Drug Ban Would Start Thursday without Deal," 4/7/08 P.S. "Guillen has not addressed the matter." as of 4/7/08. So they say, but they'll say anything.
  • Somehow, a group of media independent of the commissioner's office must take form. At the moment, truth--or what is perceived to be--is filtered through MLB, Inc. It's a joke. Then you have the major media owners who have attained and use their position to further their own views. Which is all fine, but it doesn't mean you get what's right or true. (sm)
