US baseball in China ignores fuel costs; 109 going in Padres contingent

This article by Tom Krasovic says the Padres are taking a contingent of 109 on the jet to China, other teams are taking whatever they're taking. Many US fans cannot afford the gas prices to take them to see their area team. The cost of transoceanic jet travel gets more expensive by the day and will have to be curtailed rather than expanded. We're told our players have to go there "because we Americans are good and it's our gift to other countries to try and develop baseball there."
  • Translation: Bud Selig doesn't care how he does it but he'll make every dime he can and you're mean and selfish if you don't like his ideas. He does not care that the average American cannot leave the house. Even if one walked to Starbucks, many couldn't afford to buy a coffee there.
  • This global idea needs to be scrapped-it's no longer realistic. The cost of fuel has made it so.
A drop in revenue from ticket sales in America hasn't signaled cause for concern yet. But that has to change. No one here can afford to go anywhere anymore.
  • Bud & Co. will continue to blame the Yankees for as long as they can, but it's really their fault.
