Puerto Rico is a lot closer than China, less jet fuel, kinder to the environment. Not in Selig's sales pitch.

"Baseball is a social institution with social responsibilities, and caring for the environment is inextricably linked to all aspects of our game,"
  • said (Owners') Commissioner Bud Selig.
"Sound environmental practices make sense in every way and protect our natural resources for future generations of baseball fans." (MLB.com, 3/11/08, article by Ben Platt).
  • Where is an analysis of environmental damage done by transoceanic jets MLB owners send back and forth to Communist China and Japan?
  • Not to mention the enormous cost of fuel, paid for by the fans, like everything else.
  • Communist China has made clear it will make no verifiable improvement in its unsafe environmental practices for the foreseeable future.
Why aren't BBWAA members writing articles about Selig's contradictory statements and behavior? I'm not suggesting anyone ask HIM about the statements--he'll just blow them off. I'm just asking for logic and facts.
  • Puerto Rico is a lot closer and MLB has abandoned it.
