Billy Crystal stunt hatched by Derek Jeter--Newsday

"The publicity stunt, Crystal said, was an idea hatched when he happened to run into Derek Jeter while vacationing in Costa Rica during the New Year's holiday. In chatting, Crystal mentioned that he would be turning 60 Friday, and was having a little trouble with the upcoming milestone. Jeter asked what would make him feel better, and Crystal said something about coming to spring training. The next thing Crystal knew, he was chatting with Yankees chief operating officer Lonn Trost."
