Cheaper Tickets, TicketSpot.com

"A search conducted Wednesday, Feb. 6, turned up bargains in several sections of Yankee Stadium for the April 2 game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The two teams play in the season opening series at the stadium, which marks the final season before the Yankees move into a new facility in 2009.

  • Several Field Championship level tickets, in boxes 1-52, were selling on TicketSpot.com for $168 each, not including shipping and convenience fees, but those same tickets were selling for $250 per ticket for season ticket holders. On Yankees.com, those same tickets were selling for $325 and $450 a piece. They are essentially sold out under the season ticket program, which means fans who bought them on Yankees.com are looking at a minimum of $325 per ticket.

TicketSpot.com was also listing tickets at the Main Championship level, boxes 223-245 and 240-269, for $105 each; those same tickets were selling to season ticket holders for $120. On Yankees.com, those same tickets were selling for as much as $180 and $280 each.

  • Even Outfield Field Box and Tier Box MVP seats were selling for bargain prices. TicketSpot.com listed seats in several boxes for $43 each, not including shipping and convenience fees, or nearly half the price of those same tickets for season ticket holders ($80), or $90 to $95 each on Yankees.com. The tier MVP seats, which were selling for $55, $65 and $70 to season ticket holders and on Yankees.com were selling for $38 on TicketSpot.com."
