Dibs and Kevin discuss arbitration season

Most are aware arbitration can be very unpleasant for a player. Dibs and Kevin cite examples:
  • *Orel Hershiser, at the time already a tremendous pitcher, came out of his arbitration meeting in tears. (ie., Team had informed him he was in fact practically garbage).
  • *Kevin notes Eric Gagne v the Dodgers at the height of what was perceived as his ability, NL regular season save stat totals, asked for $8 million, was only given $5 million. Reason given: because Mariano Rivera had also lost an arbitration hearing.
