The Associated Press Gets an 'F' in Math, an A+ in Politics. David Justice DID MEET WITH MITCHELL BEFORE REPORT.
From the AP story tonight published in the NY Times about Mariano Rivera's new contract:
- "The 38-year-old Rivera insisted that the Yankees' legacy was safe even though ***11 players from their championship run*** were included in the Mitchell Report. They included Clemens, David Justice, Chuck Knoblauch and Mike Stanton.
''I don't think that we have to defend anything,'' Rivera said. ''Those years were hard work and a lot of dedication. The whole team was involved, not ***just two guys***.''"
- AP story, "Rivera Finalizes Deal and Supports Pettitte," published in the NY Times, 12/17/07
- YET HOW MANY BASEBALL WRITERS ARE IN BUD SELIG AND GEORGE MITCHELL'S POCKET, LEADING THE WORLD TO BELIEVE LIES ABOUT NUMEROUS "YANKEES FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP YEARS IN THE REPORT?'
- Yankee bashing is how you ADVANCE YOUR CAREER in baseball writing, MOVE UP THE FOOD CHAIN. Say you're on the downside, maybe could use a little more bread from ESPN, just get headlines for doing what threadbare phonies do--say the 4 World Series had 11 users, or phrase your statements so the reader is left with that impression.Hey! You may get chosen to vote in the next BBWAA baseball awards scam!
- "Championship Run" years: 1996-2000
- Mike Stanton: alleged and denied purchase: 2003 as a Met
- David Justice: alleged and denied HGH purchase sometime after the 2000 World Series. (NY Times)
- Chuck Knoblauch: alleged used during 2001
- Roger Clemens: alleged use during championship years
- Andy Pettitte: 2002, HGH while on DL in April 2002.*****************************
- What about David Justice? Did you know that he DID meet with the Mitchell people before the report, as stated by Tyler Kepner in a NY Times article?
- NY Times by Tyler Kepner: "Justice spoke with the Mitchell investigators before the allegations by Radomski and McNamee, saying in his interview that he never used performance-enhancing drugs. The report says Justice did not respond to a subsequent interview request to answer specific charges; he said he never got the message."
- And the fact that this alleged purchase was AFTER THE CHAMPIONSHIP years is only vaguely mentioned in Kepner's article towards the end. I had to look for it:
NY Times, Tyler Kepner:"Justice dismissed the idea that he purchased H.G.H. from Radomski after the 2000 World Series. His final two seasons were plagued by more groin injuries, and his performance fell off sharply.
“It really helped me, huh?” Justice said, facetiously."" Reference NY Times article by Tyler Kepner, "Justice Attempts to Clear his Name," 12/15/07. *********************- HALL OF SHAME FOR BASEBALL WRITER MARK WHICKER, Orange County Register, 12/17/07.
- Mark Whicker:"Andy Pettitte bought Radomski's wares near the end of the '02 season and, in '03, tied a career high with 21 victories. The report does not say McNamee injected Pettitte after that, although it does say the two continued working together."
- WILL MARK WHICKER RUN A FIRST PARAGRAPH RETRACTION OF THAT OBVIOUSLY "TAINTED" UNPROFESSIONAL MISSTATEMENT?
2 Comments:
Nothing has been proven against most of these players including Clemens. As unlikely as it may be the Feds believing Roger Clemens was guilty would force Mcnamee to point the finger at Roger whether he did it or not. To start treating him as though he's been convicted is obscene. The mass media (not everyone) has used this Mitchell report to engage in a lot of Yellow Journalism. They're pigs at the trough - remember how often these media members disingenuously blamed themselves for not covering the Ped's in Baseball but took no hit for it meanwhile they are still not covering them in Football. Now these people are suddenly Joesph McCarthy running the House Committee on Un-American Activities where accusations are proof.

Almost everything I read has lies in it. If the Yankees ever did the right thing and sued a few of these people it would obviously stop.
