Dear Jacques Rogge, the rest of the IOC, and especially Communist China:

KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF MLB, INC. PLAYERS. OR HIRE THEM YOURSELF AND RUN THEM INTO THE GROUND IF YOU WANT. I'M NOT BRAIN-DEAD NOR AM I SEEKING A JOB WITH MLB, INC., SO I'M SAYING WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID. THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE IS SICKENING AND IS ONLY POSTED FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T BRAIN-DEAD OR WIMPS:
  • "Baseball's Olympic reinstatement at heart of IBAF vote
Harvey Schiller and Reynaldo Gonzalez are making the same campaign promise: they'll work to get baseball back in the Olympics.

The American and Cuban are in a tight race, which will be decided Friday when the International Baseball Federation elects a new president to succeed Aldo Notari of Italy, who died last year after 13 years in office.

By choosing Beijing as the venue for its vote, the IBAF is hoping to raise the sport's profile in the host city of the 2008 Olympics. If baseball is popular and draws Chinese fans, it would give the sport a boost in an untapped market and make the IOC take notice.

The IOC voted in 2005 to drop baseball after the 2008 Olympics. Softball was also cut, but both could be reinstated by the IOC as early as 2009 for the 2016 Games.

IOC president Jacques Rogge has said baseball needs to toughen its anti-doping rules, and ensure that the top players compete in the Olympics. Major League Baseball doesn't allow players on major league rosters to go to the Olympics but does allow teams to send players from the minors."

  • REALLY? THE IOC IS TOTALLY CORRUPT, AS IS WADA, AND YOU PRESUME TO DICTATE?

"Schiller said having a slightly shorter Olympic Baseball Tournament might help."

  • NO IT WON'T UNLESS YOU RUIN THE CAREER OF EVERY PITCHER THERE.

""We have talked about this with the professional leagues," he said, speaking in Beijing. "They seem willing to do more to get baseball back in the games. You have to tell your story, and you have to do it right."

Schiller also termed Rogge's concern about baseball's anti-doping rules "an easy problem to fix together with the IOC and WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency).""

  • WHAT? THESE GUYS ARE ALL CORRUPT, THEY ONLY DEAL IN BACK ROOM PAYOFFS. HE SAYS YOU HAVE TO 'TELL YOUR STORY...' SELL THE BILL OF GOODS.
"Schiller and Gonzalez, who declined an interview request by The Associated Press, both have deep Olympic backgrounds."
  • THERE IS NO LEADER IN BASEBALL, JUST A BUNCH OF CROOKS.

"Friday's election is expected to be close among the 115 eligible voters. The winning candidate needs to receive one vote above 50 percent.

A third candidate, Theo Reitsma of the Netherlands, withdrew officially from the race on Thursday. Reitsma, a TV sports commentator who was president of the Dutch baseball and softball federation, said he had "insufficient support" to continue.

His pending withdrawal had been widely reported.

Tom Peng of Taiwan has been acting president since Notari's death. The new president will serve out the remainder of Notari's term, which ends after the 2008 Olympics.

Schiller is a former secretary general of the United States Olympic Committee, and Gonzalez has been an IOC member since 1995.

Schiller heads a risk management company in New York. He was a U.S. Air Force pilot and has held other high-ranking sports and business positions. He was chairman and CEO of YankeeNets, which once owned the New York Yankees, New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils, and a former president of Turner Sports.

Gonzalez, a former president of the Cuban Baseball Federation, is also an active member in the Pan American Sports Organization.

Schiller, who is supported by Major League Baseball, says those contacts -- and wide experience in television -- could give him an edge. On the downside, an American heading world baseball might be viewed negatively by the European-dominated IOC."

  • One can only hope. On the other hand, America no longer exists except as a place on a map, so what's the difference?

"Gonzalez touts his IOC credentials, and is also a former vice president of the IBAF. He can expect to draw wide support in Latin America."

  • REALLY? SO VENEZUELA IS SENDING YOU ITS BEST PITCHERS, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, no money changing hands?
