MLB Extra Innings may jump ship to DirecTV, at which point I'll jump overboard

A nightmare--the possibility MLB Extra Innings will move to DirecTV, the entity's growth having stalled at about 750,000 on cable.
  • "DirecTV is in advanced talks with Major League Baseball about acquiring exclusive access to baseball's out-of-market Extra Innings package, a move that could be a huge blow to the cable industry and one that will certainly grab attention on Capitol Hill." This from Sports Business Journal's edition ending 12/31/06.
Having experienced DirecTV, I'd have to do without MLB Extra Innings. A blog discussing this deal believes it nicely coincides with SBJ/SBD doing a cover story on Allan "Bud" Selig and giving him a big award. I looked up the background of the executive editor of SBD, and of course he's a former aide to Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy. One of the world's biggest pinko snakes.
