Harold Reynolds gives first interview on XM Channel 175

Harold came on via phone at about 2:05PM ET with Charley Steiner. The two had run into each other at an event recently and both thought it would be a good idea to do it.
  • Harold said he's "pressing charges to get heard," has date set with mediator and ESPN at the end of September. He was never told of charges by ESPN, they just came out in the media.
  • "I never went to Outback, they don't play in this whole story."
  • "No truth to" rumors about my acting on behalf of my brother Larry.
  • Leaks about "prior problems" also news to Harold. So-called "problems" were never mentioned to him before, and he's had 3 previous contracts with ESPN.
  • When he was summoned in, he had no idea what it was about.
  • This is the first time in 26 years he's been away from baseball.
  • He may appear again on Charley's show in upcoming weeks.

  • It sucks that one of the most entertaining broadcasters in the sport is off the air

  • He was better than what remains. It's not as if other talent is non-existent in the universe, but the decision makers at Disney are unable to see it.

  • The problem is usually at the top--there is other talent out there but those doing the hiring are obviously inept. It all starts with Bodenheimer, I guess.

  • ESPN - HOW DO YOU FIRE THE BEST MINORITY ANNOUNCER / COMMENTATOR IN THE BUSINESS ?.
I MISSED HIM AT THE L.L. SERIES IT WAS NOT THE SAME. BB-TONITE, NOT INTERESTING, NO CHARISMA!. WELL CAN'T FIX IT NOW.
YOUR LOSS, DON'T YOU HATE LOSING. ESPECIALLY BEING SHUTOUT.

  • ESPN – Harold Reynolds is the reason I watched Baseball Tonight! The other guys are good but Harold is the man.
If you (ESPN) want to get rid of an employee why don't you fire Michael Irvin, he's horrible. ESPN has held their broadcasters to a much higher standard on TV than the other stations and he doesn't hold up to the ESPN standard. He can barley speak, you should at least keep him away from Steve Young this way he wouldn’t look so bad.
