Thom Loverro, Washington Times--Nationals

Thom says it's a miracle the Nats did as well as they did their 1st year---only half their games were on tv, which is a crime. Tv coverage is what grows fans, & theirs was fractional. Promotion? Are you kidding? Think how it might be with some promotional dollars. Merchandising? Loverro says fans had to traipse down to a little trailer to buy a hat or a t-shirt. He thinks Bud has already made up his mind who the new owner will be. Loverro thinks Bud wants Smulyan, because Smulyan won't go out & spend a lot of money on a big star player.
