Tampa Bay Devil Rays' Moves

Marc Topkin of the St. Petersburg Times and Charley Steiner both think the hiring of new manager Joe Maddon is a great move. Topkin also points to other Rays' moves to build fan excitement: long-term signing of Rocco Baldelli, hiring of Gerry Hunsicker, allowing fans to bring food into the stadium, and some parking and stadium upgrades (though a new stadium, or at least one with a retractable dome is needed). They won't be adding much payroll, but might be able to improve with trades of existing players like Aubrey Huff.
