Madoff had prime seats at Shea, money down for more of same at Mets Citifield--NY Times
(NY Times): "Bernard L. Madoff was more than a close friend of the Mets’ principal owner, Fred Wilpon, and a trusted investment adviser. He was also a season-ticket holder at Shea Stadium, with premium box seats close to those belonging to Sterling Equities, the investment firm created by Wilpon, and allegedly victimized by Madoff in a $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
- For many years at Shea, Madoff had four seats just to the left of home plate, two in the first row and two behind them.
- And Madoff had put money down for two seats behind home plate at Citi Field....
So what will the Mets do next season with two seats behind home plate that may be empty and that will be visible on television on nearly every pitch? “We’ll just have to see what happens with their account,” Howard said."
