New York Magazine's 40th Anniversary issue (10/6/08) asked 5 sports pundits for their Top 10 NY athletes of the past 40 years. Mariano Rivera made 4 of the 5 lists, Derek Jeter made 3 of the 5:

• 1. Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo's Top 10

• 2. Mike Lupica's Top 10

• 3. Selena Roberts' Top 10

• 4. Will Leitch's Top 10

Of these 4, Selena Roberts included Mo Rivera but not Jeter. About Mo she says:

• "For more than a decade, Mo, the master of the cutter as the Yankees’ closer, has changed the way opponents play the game."

The 5th pundit polled is an institution at ESPN (J. Schaap). Shockingly, no Yankees were mentioned on his list. (joke) (sm)
