Brian Bruney needs a new excuse

  • Arod's contract was to accommodate both sides' getting
  • a home run record.
  • It had nothing to do with championships, and never will as long as he's a Yankee. An mlb.com Yankee poster acknowledges that likelihood:
  • To:mo4hof
  • sconklin
"The Yankee management made the decision that
  • it was more important that the
A-Rod will get the record but I have serious reservations of this team ever winning a championship with him on it."....
  • P.S. Brian Bruney has been very vocal about what a big difference it is for him now to have a manager who has confidence in him. I wish Bruney all the best in life, but he showed tonight he's the same pitcher no matter who the manager is. Another storyline bites the dust.
Recent history indicates Yankee management's philosophy will not pay off. Dating from 1990, they did not reach #1 in AL attendance until 2003. It took 8 consecutive years of getting to the post season to reach that. They had been crying the blues about attendance for years before that (eg "no one will come to the Bronx").
  • They will not sell what they need to based on Arod.
