NY Times has slight addition to current word about Mariano Rivera

"....the Yankees are awaiting a response from Mariano Rivera on their three-year, $40 million offer.
  • They believe it will take more than that to sign Rivera but remain confident they will do so."
From NY Times article by Tyler Kepner, "Life After Rodriguez May Include (Miguel) Cabrera," 11/7/07
  • (Kepner's addition being the Yankees believe their offer to Mariano might have to increase).
Much of the article is depressing as it discusses the idea of trading for Miguel Cabrera whom I do not want to begin with. Then, hey throw Joba, Phil, Melky, Ian, you name it in the garbage. Since each one of them is needed desperately, the topic is too depressing.
  • ***A CALLER TO WFAN TODAY HAD A BETTER IDEA--IT'S BY NO MEANS PERFECT,
  • BUT HOW ABOUT MIGUEL TEJADA, OF COURSE SWITCHING HIM TO 3B? NOT THAT THE YANKEES & ORIOLES COULD EVER AGREE ON A TRADE, BUT TEJADA IS WORTH CONSIDERING. (sm)
