How ESPN treated the WBC as a fringe event

After all, it started with minor league umpires to let you know it was a fringe event. They could easily have put the games on ESPN Classic. And when they said they'd play them back at 1 or 2 in the morning, they didn't, with no announcement, crawl, etc., just played tennis instead. Next time around, they'll have MLB Advanced Media to compete with. Article from Sports Media Watch. Not to worry--most of the writers, especially America haters, were played like a violin by Selig & Orza, not to mention Fidel. They gave it tons of publicity.
