Bernie Williams, Nomar, et al.

The Yankees must make an offer to Bernie Williams by Wednesday, or lose any negotiating rights with him until May 1. The NY Times reports that Bernie is even in attendance at the Winter Meetings. This is interesting to me...Bernie has other talents, is a guitar virtuoso---I believe Paul McCartney was involved with the production of his cd. Yet, here he is in Dallas, in the thick of it. If he wants to play baseball, he could probably do it without showing up at a hotel in Dallas. But, apparently he doesn't just want to play baseball. He wants a particular kind of baseball experience, a kind he feels might not be achieved without the force of his personal presence. Bernie has told people he's in Dallas to meet with a personal trainer about getting in shape for next season. Most wish him well whatever the reason.
