Why baseball reporters/columnists have no credibility
On October 15, 2006, Mike Berardino made this statement:
"Buck Showalter should still be floating out there, if Steinbrenner wanted to right a wrong of sorts from 11 years ago."
- This was one of Berardino's suggestions for Yankee manager if Joe Torre leaves after the 2007 season.
- You can't say the author of that statement doesn't know about Showalter's history, because he does.
- But, knowing even some of it, why suggest he go to any team? How in the world can he suggest anyone was "wrong" in letting Showalter go after his mistakes in 1995? And Berardino is morally qualified to tell a team to "right" a "wrong"?
- Mike, if you read the beginning of Joel Sherman's "Birth of a Dynasty" you might possibly realize how very "wrong" you are to make that suggestion.
